Remember that trip home where he noticed the roof flapping in the wind well, on the ride home we created a plan. He would work on the ABS roof and I would work on making new cushion covers and curtains. By the time we were 20 miles from home I had already ordered the plastic beads and had sent a picture of the MEK (found at Lowes) to his phone. We had a deadline, my sister was getting married in October and we were camping! Hence the plan.
That next weekend Jamie started by cleaning all the cracks and re-gluing and pieces of the plastic that had come off. Once he started it was like he could never stop. Every inch of that roof was scrutinized and every crack was scratched out. He also made sure to drill holes at the beginning and the end of each crack to make sure that it didn't crack anymore. My parents had gone away that weekend and when they got home they weren't sure what to make of project we had started.
Before starting to clean out the cracks he started to mix his "slury" knowing it was going to take a while to get it right.
While sanding down the "slury" Jamie ended up breaking the palm sander (opps!). That was a quick trip to Lowes before he could finish. We also spent a small fortune in sandpaper.
During the week I had researched what I would need to remake the curtains and cover the cushions. My mom had taught me from a young age how to sew, and thank goodness she did. Saturday came and my daughter and I were off to the fabric store and Target with our list of things that I couldn't order on Amazon.
From Amazon I ordered RV glide tape and elastic. I had read the Pop Up Princesses tutorial on how to recover the cushions and followed this tutorial from Craftsy for the curtains. Before taking our friends camping in the spring I had bought some cheap curtains from Target and used those for the front window and one of the beds. I decided that I would modify those and just buy more to finish the other windows and the other bed.
